Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how Truearo works, how we research, and how to use the site.
About Truearo
Is Truearo independent?
Yes. Truearo is an independent publication. Where we use affiliate links or accept sponsorship, we disclose it, and those relationships do not decide what we say about a product.
How does Truearo make money?
Through advertising, sponsorships and affiliate arrangements, as explained on our Advertise and Affiliate Disclosure pages. Compensation never buys a recommendation or a better score.
Who writes the articles?
Articles are written and edited by the Truearo editor. Our editorial principles explain how topics are chosen and how claims are checked.
Reviews and testing
Do you test every product hands-on?
No. Many articles are desk research based on official documentation and pricing pages, and we label them that way. We only describe hands-on testing when someone has actually used the product.
Do you give products scores?
Most Truearo articles carry no score. If a score is shown, the criteria and evidence behind it are explained. We never publish invented ratings or review counts.
How current are prices and features?
Software changes often. Always confirm pricing, limits and features on the provider's official website before you buy. If you spot something outdated, please tell us.
Where do the sources come from?
We prefer primary sources such as official documentation, pricing pages, terms and public filings. Our Sources page explains how we cite and verify them.
Using the site
How do I narrow down a choice?
Use the Tool Finder to build a shortlist for a need, then the Comparison Builder to put up to three products side by side. Product profiles list what each product is and which Truearo articles cover it.
How do saved articles work?
Tap the bookmark on any article. Your list is stored in your browser on this device only. There is no account, and nothing is sent to our servers.
How does the newsletter work?
You enter your email and confirm it by clicking a link we send you. You can unsubscribe from any email.
Corrections, rights and accessibility
How do I report an error?
Use the report form with the page address and, if you can, a reliable source. We review it and update the article when the correction is verified.
How do I report a copyright or trademark concern?
Use the same report form and choose Copyright or Trademark. Our IP and takedown policy explains what to include and how we review notices, including requests to remove or replace a logo, image, text or link.
Why do you show company logos?
Only to identify the products we discuss. They remain the property of their owners and do not imply endorsement. Owners can ask us to change or remove a logo at any time.
Is the site accessible?
We build to WCAG 2.2 level AA and keep improving. If something blocks you, tell us and we will help and fix it.
