Editorial Principles

Truearo exists to help readers make more confident decisions about websites, software and tools. The best way to earn that trust is to be clear about what we know, how we know it and where uncertainty remains.

Useful information comes first

Our articles should answer a question the reader actually has. When comparing products, we focus on the work they help accomplish, the cost of using them and the trade-offs. We avoid exaggerated claims, invented rankings and filler designed only to make an article longer.

Primary sources and meaningful analysis

Prices, technical limitations and features should be checked against primary sources where possible. Links to official documentation let readers verify details, but copying a provider’s sales claims is not independent research. We aim to add context and practical reasoning rather than repackaging advertisements.

Honest reviews

Articles based on public documentation are clearly framed as editorial or desk reviews. We should only claim hands-on testing when actual testing has been performed and the method can be explained. Numerical ratings, review counts and comparisons should reflect real evidence, not illustrative figures.

How we use tools

Software tools, including AI-assisted tools, may help with research organization, outlines or drafts. They do not replace responsibility for checking claims and deciding whether the content is useful. The publication is responsible for reviewing factual details, source links, images and disclosures before publication. Readers should not be led to believe that an automated result was a firsthand product test.

Commercial relationships

Advertising and affiliate compensation may help pay for the website. Sponsored content and affiliate relationships should be disclosed where relevant. Compensation does not turn a product into the right answer for everyone. See our Affiliate Disclosure.

Corrections and dates

When new information changes the substance of an article, it should be reviewed and updated. We do not change dates simply to make old content appear fresh. Material corrections are handled under our Corrections Policy.

Respect for readers

Good navigation, readable typography and accessible pages matter as much as attractive layouts. We aim to keep advertisements distinct from editorial content and avoid controls that mislead visitors about what will happen when clicked.
